It is with deep sadness that the family of Douglas Arthur Mullenger announces his passing on August 13, 2022 at the age of 71. Douglas was born in Halifax on October 8, 1950. He was the son of the late Arthur Roy (Bud) Mullenger and Marlene Betty (Thomas; Mullenger) Collins. Doug graduated from Saint Mary’s University, Bachelor of Commerce in 1974. He worked in the family business for many years and later as a realtor with Sutton Group Professional Realty. Doug represented Nova Scotia on the Junior Men’s Curling Team in 1968. He was a past member of Ashburn Golf Club, Mayflower Curling Club, Philae Shriners; Treasurer of Fairview 126 Masonic Lodge and Treasurer of Sunset Bowling League. Doug was an active member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church where he served on several committees. He was a dedicated parishioner lending a helping hand wherever and to whomever needed help. Doug and Nancy enjoyed travelling and were very fortunate to be able to visit many countries. Doug was very generous. He also loved to tell a joke to anyone who would listen. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. He had a special relationship with Nancy’s mother, Laura MacRae, whom he called “Mom” and would love to make her laugh. Doug is survived by his loving partner, Nancy Grandy; his children, Rachel (Jonathan) MacIntosh and Andrew (Emma Becker) Mullenger; Nancy’s children, Erin (Derek) Galliott and Haley (Matt) Grant; grandchildren, Jacob and Josh Galliott, Ava and Zachary Grant and James and Claire MacIntosh; sisters, Susan (Gordon) MacIntosh and Maureen (Les) Kakonyi. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, 5524 Russell St, Halifax on Saturday August 20, 2022 at 10:00 am. A private internment will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s Anglican Church.
