Obituary of Kathryn Anne MacKenzie

Kathryn Anne (Brown) MacKenzie,73, of Dartmouth, NS, passed away unexpectedly on May 10, 2018 at the QEII Hospital. Born in New Waterford, Cape Breton, NS, she was the only daughter of Bessie and Robert Brown. She was a devoted stay at home Mom until 1981 when she returned to school, later graduating from Mount Saint Vincent University. She worked for years as Medical Secretary in Halifax until her retirement at the age of 55. Mom loved life and all it offered. She was the life of the party wherever she went and lit up any room she entered. Moms passion for life was contagious and she was always looking for the next adventure. She loved to travel and visited numerous amazing destinations always making an impression along the way. Mom was the most proud of all of her children, grandchildren, and precious dog Bessie and would do anything for them. She is survived by her partner Greg Hawthorn of 25 years; daughters Lisa MacKenzie (Gary) of Waverley, NS, Karla Gennette (Andrew Fisher) of Clermont, FL, Karen Gauthier (Darren) of Bedford NS, and Hilary Wagg (Steve) of Tantallon, NS; son Sean Maloney (Sara) of Richmond, BC; 13 grandchildren, Bryan Maloney, Mac Gennette, Malayah Maloney, Keegan Gauthier, Alannah Maloney, Georgia Saleski, Riley Gauthier, Graydon Saleski, Kenadie Wagg, Duggan Gauthier, Caleigh Fisher, Reegan Wagg, and Camden Fisher; and 3 brothers, Robert, Roy, and Frank Brown. She was predeceased by her mother, father, and brother Hilary. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday May 15 at 4:00 pm, at the St. Ignatius Church, 1288 Bedford Hwy,Bedford, NS. Flowers can be sent to St. Ignatius Catholic Church, or memorial donations may be made to the MS Society, Atlantic Division.
