Obituary of Chu Chi McGrath

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of of Chuchi, age 68, on July 15, 2022, in the VG site, QEII. Chuchi was born in Halifax on June 3, 1954, to the late Ramon and Amparo Pastor who settled in Bedford after fleeing Franco's Spain, as Chuchi's father had been a General in the Spanish Army. Besides her parents, Chuchi was predeceased by her older brother, Frank Pastor. After graduating from Sydney Stephen High, Chuchi went on to take accounting and computer courses at Mount Saint Vincent University. She spent her career working several jobs in accounts payable/receivable. Chuchi was a devoted wife, best friend, and loving companion to Gary McGrath. Including her recent hospitalization, Gary and Chuchi rarely left one another’s sides for the last 51 years, 49 of which they were married. Along with her husband, Chuchi is also survived by her greatest pride and joy, their son Justin (Katelyn), and fur-grandchild Joey (Lower Sackville). While choosing to keep her circle small, Chuchi was fiercely loyal, protective, and loving to the ones she held close. She was a self-described "tom-boy", who loved cars and technology and never minded getting her hands dirty - but like her beloved crows she also loved anything that sparkled. We like to think that Mama is finally reunited with beloved family dog Shilo, who will keep her company as she patiently "saves a seat" for Dad. We would like to extend our deep gratitude and thanks to the nurses, staff, and doctors of Unit 5A in the VG Centennial Building for their compassion and care. Cremation has taken place under the direction of T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax; and upon Chuchi's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service.
