It is with great sadness that I am reading of Chuchi’s passing. We were best friends during our school years and even though our lives took us in different directions I never forgot her or her smiling disposition. I smiled when I read her obituary as it was “so her”. I remember a time when, at the age of 16, she bought a 1964 Ford Mustang. It looked lovely but turned out to be a piece of junk. She needed to start it manually under the hood every time she used it. I came out of school one afternoon and there was Chuchi underneath the engine hood starting her car. What was so funny was the beautiful fur coat she had just received for Christmas that she was wearing and the diamond and ruby ring that her Mother had given her glistening on her finger in the sunlight. Somehow, these two things and the grease from the engine didn’t go together. We had such a laugh over the contrast. She sure was a lady but the Tom boy in her kept her happy and me laughing. She was a true and loyal friend. My condolences to her family at this sad time.

My fondest memories of Chu Chi were two occasions, one being the graduation of her son Justin at Holland College and on his wedding day. Both days I witnessed a mom who couldn't be more proud of her boy and her new daughter in law Katelyn. She was beaming along with Gary ,the other love of her life. She was smiling all day long!

Hi Cooper, We were saddened to hear of Chuchi's passing. She was a special lady. You always spoke of her in such affectionate terms when you & I worked together. It's hard to believe I've known her family for almost 50 years. Her Father, Mother, her brother Frank and I all worked for the same company at the Airport in the 1970's. Please know that she left a great mark on the lives of everyone who knew or met her. She'll be missed.

Gary, Justin and Kate,
My heart goes out to you all at this time.
The first time I met Chuchi was at Kate's bridal shower and when I introduced myself she responded "oh I've heard so much about you" and it was a friendly reminder of much she invested in knowing all about Justin and Kate's circle of friends. She kept us all laughing with her witty one liners and I loved that it didn't matter where she was or who she with she was completely herself.
I remember at Justin and Kate's wedding how both her and Gary were blissfully happy the entire day. When I think of Justin and Kate's wedding all I see is her smile because of how proud she was and happy to have Kate complete their family.
I am thankful to have known her, I am thankful for the impression she had on the people around her and the memories we can reflect on.
Gary, Justin and Kate thank you for sharing this beautiful soul with us and that you find comfort in this time of grief.
Love, Shanea

Gary, Justin and Kate. Andrew and I were so very sorry to hear about Chich's passing; she was such a tough cookie. We think of Chich fondly, as she would constantly check up on us and little Zack, keeping up to date on our lives on social media, and sending funny videos that would make you blush :) I knew I would have a laugh whenever Chich was around, with her bright, witty and sometimes spicy personality.
I specifically remember at Kate's bridal shower a few years back, and Chich being so excited about making Kate an official member of the McGrath family. We were playing a bridal shower game, and one of the questions was "What does Kate love most about Justin?," and without hesitation Chich speaks up, and says "Oh I know that one!!".......as she gets up and strikes an Arnold Schwarzenegger pose.. .."It's his MUSCLES of course!" and the room filled with laughter as Kate's cheeks blushed red.
Whenever I think of Chich I think fondly of that memory, and the light she brought to the room, and how in love and proud she was of her family, and Andrew and I were lucky to have known her.
Sending love, and thoughts of fond memories to all of you, paired with some shoulders to lean on for whatever you all need in the coming weeks.

So sorry to hear of Chu Chi's passing. Dave and I sometimes talk about the things we did, when the group all hung out at Sunnyside, (way back when). The laughs and who's car was better, Chu Chi getting under the hood of her Mustang to fix something.
Think of the good times you had together, to help get though this difficult time.
