Obituary of Phillip Henry Orr

Please share a memory of Phillip to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Heaven gained an angel on Sunday, June 12 with the too-soon passing of Phillip Henry Orr, age 60, at the QEII hospital with family by his side. Phil was the devoted son of John and Jean Orr, growing up on Dublin Street in Halifax where he made many of his most cherished memories. For nearly 25 years, Phil could be found behind the wheel as a cab driver for Satellite Taxi, a job very well suited to his kind-hearted personality and ability to make everyone feel special. He truly cared for his customers, many of whom he considered friends. Next to the Boston Bruin’s, nothing brought Phil more joy than his family, his dogs and his grandchildren, Mackenzie, and Camden. To know Phil for a minute or for a lifetime was to know he was thoughtful, caring, and selfless. He was one of the good ones and we will miss his presence in our lives immensely. Phil will be lovingly remembered by his lifelong partner, Jayne Wagner; stepson, Ryan (Jessi Snow) Benedict; special niece, Stacey (Adrian) Parsons; grandchildren, Mackenzie, and Camden Benedict; siblings, Bob (Harriette) Orr, Judy (Rick) Naugler, Joe (Michael) Orr; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, and siblings, Jack, Billy, Donald, and Mary. A celebration of Phil’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an animal shelter or the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses and doctors for their care and compassion during his brief stay in the hospital.
