Dear Elaine and Family: I am so sorry for your great loss of a multitalented person. I always thought a lot of Cyril. When we were children we walked to school together with Gerard McDonald. We always shared great laughs. Cyril had a wonderful laugh and a very dry wit even when he was young. Loved his talents in photography and nursing. He never suffered fools gladly. He was very honest. We certainly enjoyed all the pictures of your lovely family on Facebook. You are both very kind and generous people. I was shocked to hear of Cyril’s passing - we were friends since elementary school, & although we hadn’t seen each other in a very long time, the friendship remained. There are not many more genuine people on this planet. From the first moment I met Cyril, at the Athens Restaurant on Quinpool Road in Halifax around 10 years ago, a warm friendship was created. Every meeting started and ended with a warm hug and the endearing conversation was his trademark. I am privileged to have known Cyril and his family and even more blessed to have been his friend. I hope Cyril knew those of us who remained would share our warm stories about him with his most cherished people; his loving wife, his wonderful daughter and son-in-law but most importantly, his beautiful grandsons. Gone far too soon and will forever be missed.

I had the privilege of working on a Knights of Columbus 4th Degree committee with Cyril to seek recognition for Fr. Art MacKinnon from New Victotia who gave his life for his parishioners in the Dominican Republic. His deep faith and belief in justice shone through his participation.
