Obituary of Steven Cyril Foran
Please share a memory of Steven to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
71, Lower Sackville, NS passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 5, 2022 at the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Halifax, NS, Steve was the son of the late Cyril T. (Red) Foran and Margaret (Duffey) Foran White.
Steve grew up in the north end of Halifax, attended St. Patrick’s High School and spent many summers instructing Air Cadets in Greenwood, NS. He played many sports including softball, hockey, skiing, and billiards. Steven loved spending time with his daughter and taking her and her friends and cousins on many road trips to go skiing in Newfoundland, New Brunswick and Maine. He also enjoyed his trips with his friends to watch sports and play pool and poker in Las Vegas. He worked as a cartographer for the NS Department of Lands and Forests and after retirement, continued his love of carpentry. He built several homes and enjoyed overcoming the many challenges on his friends and family’s renovation projects. As Steve would say, he was a jack of all trades and master of none, although his family would say that he mastered many. Steve loved to volunteer especially in support of a special Olympian at the NS Special Olympics. Over the last several years, Steve was an avid bridge player and enjoyed the strategy and competition of the game, as well as the friends that surrounded him at the table. He was a humble, generous and thoughtful man who touched so many hearts.
Steve is survived by his wife Debbie (Gardiner) Foran and his daughter who thought the world of him, Tara (Guillaume Simoneau) Foran, as well as his brother Gary (Colleen) Foran, sisters Judith (Foran) Hindmarch and Debbie (Foran) Kelly, brother-in-law Cletus Deschamps, and several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Steven was predeceased by his father Red, mother Marg, and sister Jeannette (Foran) Deschamps.
