Obituary of Melvin Mercer

Melvin Mercer Glace Bay It is with heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Melvin Mercer, age 75, at the C.C. U. at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Friday, April 22, 2022 with his loving wife and son by his side. Born in Glace Bay, July 15, 1946, he was the youngest son of the late Joseph and Sabaine (Odo) Mercer. He enjoyed the outdoors and often went hunting and fishing with his older brother Moe and son Ian. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sylvia (Roberts); son, Ian (Michelle); grandson, Silas, who he got to love for two years; sister, Gladys Spencer as well as several nieces and nephews. Melvin was predeceased by brothers, Joseph and George; sisters, Emma, Amy, Jessie, May, Mary and Georgina. We would like to thank the C.C.U. staff and the V.O.N. staff who visited Melvin at home. By his request, there will be no visitation or service. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J.
