I just heard this news today and I am so sorry for your loss.
Mrs. Boyd was my Grade 5 teacher in 1984/85 and one of my favourites. She was a hard ass, but I have SO many wonderful memories of her.
The Sunship Journey
Orientation through The Dingle
Guinea Pigs
Warm fuzzies
The Hobbit
Making our own books and using old wallpaper samples for the covers.
She was an amazing teacher.
I remember going to her retirement party at Chebucto Height Elementary School. That was the last time I saw her.
RIP Mrs.Boyd and know that you made a lasting impression ❤

Reta was the person behind me doing obedience when getting back into the dog game. It began as socialization for a show dog but warped into a ton of titles especially once Reta encouraged everyone to do rally obedience when CKC recognized it. In fact, Reta took my Manny to NB and got his Rally Novice title when I couldn't book time off work. Ron even had a mouse pad made of the picture and offered it at the NSGSD Christmas silent auction. He and Reta had good fun outbidding each other at dog show silent auctions and this was much the same :-). We have many fond memories of Reta and I always used to smile at how she could get people to volunteer to work at her specialties or matches. She had charm to burn ! Reta lived her life to the fullest so, although we all mourn her loss, rest assured she didn't miss out on anything along the way. Condolences to all the family.

I remember Reta from my days as a pet therapist in seniors' homes. She evaluated the dogs to establish their suitability and she did an excellent job. Later St. john Ambulance took over and I noticed immediately that the evaluations were much less rigorous and helpful. One test involved a large, ominous figure lunging at the dog being tested, to see how the dog would react. Reta's test was appropriate, whereas the SJA one involved a large man just standing in place with a dark blanket over his face. Sorry I didn't know her better, but nevertheless I admired her and her work on behalf of children and animals.

Mrs.Boyd, will go down in history as the best grade 5 teacher ever. She was a true teacher and everything she did with us was a fun and unique experience. She read “The Hobbit” to us and then at the end of the year she set up the most amazing real live hobbit map complete with the characters in costume and Smog the dragon for an epic ending battle.
Camp Kidston trip, ski trips and just every day in her classroom was an amazing experience. Thank you mrs.Boyd for becoming a teacher and changing my life and so many others. Rest east xo

So sorry to hear the news about Reta. When we were growing up, I remember your parents at the dog shows and hanging out with you guys. There was always lots to keep us busy at the shows. I remember your parents staying at our house many times during the Moncton shows. After I grew up, I spent time with your Mom occasionally in teacher workshops and learning opportunities. As a new teacher, it was cool to be a colleague of a woman I had admired all my life. My sister, Barb, has kept me informed of your family’s activities in recent years. I am sorry that we are grieving our mothers at the same time this week and, thus, we will be unable to be with you on Sunday. Keep strong, look after one another, and continue to celebrate her legacy.

May you enjoy your rest with Blois and all your beautiful German Shepherds who await you over the bridge. You were a mentor, teacher and amazing friend to me. I’ll always have fond memories of the days at the Enfield Legion helping you with Obedience classes. You taught me SO much about training and handling of our great breed. You leave a huge void in so many hearts. Sending my thoughts to the boys especially to Paul. Your mom was truly a huge influence in my life. She’ll be missed.

Dear John, Gregory and Paul and family,
Just the other day I was speaking to one of my and Reta’s students at Chebucto Heights School and we concurred she was one of the best!!! I was one of the lucky ones to have taught alongside side Reta for many years and to have been privileged to call her a dear friend! I remember clearly her family and stately well-behaved German Shepherds!! Mostly I remembered her friendship and compassionate treatment and love for her students, oft needed sense of humour in the teaching profession, and our superb staff get-togethers! Always great fun. Please accept my most sincere condolences on her passing. Reta was very special indeed and the world has lost one of its best! Big hugs to you all! Helen M Stewart. XO
