It is with sadness that the family of A. Ross MacKay, age 60 of Bedford, announce his peaceful passing at home on June 4th, 2018.
Born in Sydney, Cape Breton, and raised in Grand River, NS, he was the son of the late George W and Frances K (MacKay) MacKay.
He is survived by his wife, Jemma (Arab), their son Kemp of Bedford, and a brother in Cape Breton.
Ross moved to Halifax at a young age and has resided in Bedford since 1981. Above all things, Ross was a proud Papa and devoted husband. Ross was a kind and gentle person who enjoyed the world of genealogy for over 40 years. He mapped out many charts and journeys for those looking for long lost families. This study led Ross to the RCMP Graves Recovery Project. An honorary membership was bestowed in recognition of his extensive research and technology assistance in locating obituaries of RCMP members. Ross was a member of the Halifax Optimist Club and a great volunteer in many projects to support our communities.
Those who wish may offer their condolences on Sunday, June 10th, between 1-5 pm at 28 Robert Allen Drive, Halifax NS.
At Ross’s request, there will be no service, and a private committal will be held at a later date.
Cremation has taken place under the care of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Bedford NS. (902) 835-4212.
