“Gert” – With hearts full of gratitude for a life well-lived, and the years that she was with us, we are sorry to share the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother. Mom passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side March 16, 2022. Born July 10, 1930, in Sydney, NS she was the daughter of the late Charles and Jane (Mortimer) Fraser. Mom graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital in 1951 as a Registered Nurse, and later met dad and married. After moving to Halifax, they built the family home in Upper Tantallon. Mom returned to school in 1968 earning a Diploma in Public Health from Dalhousie. She worked as a community health nurse in the St. Margaret’s Bay area for many years. She was a member of the French Village Painters, and her paintings hang in homes throughout Nova Scotia. In retirement mom and dad spent years travelling to Florida and when dad passed away in 2004 mom continued to do so as she had many friends there. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Surviving are sons Kevin, Upper Tantallon, Terry, Dartmouth; daughters Beverley (Mark) Westhaver, Bedford, Brenda (Derrick) Rondeau, Upper Tantallon; sister Edna Harwood, Ottawa and grandchildren Brian (Lisa) Jones, Eastern Passage, Andrew Jones, Dartmouth, Jason Rondeau, Ottawa and Laura Rondeau (Craig), Hubley; great granddaughters Kyliee and Hannah Jones and daughter-in-law Tina.
