Jamie, Kim, Michelle & Chase:
Deepest sympathy to you and all the family as you lost a great one. I attended Bill and Shirley's wedding in Amherst where they first met. I and many of his friends who grew up together, attended the wedding, where we all met Shirley for the first time, a lovely woman. Although I have moved to BC, I have kept in touch with Bill. I was deeply sad to hear of Shirley and Tod's passing.
Wally as we called him had a great sense of humour. Most of us were in hockey and Bill being a broadcaster followed hockey. All of us on occasions were rink rats at the Dalhousie rink in the 1950s. Bill would get on the loud speaker at the rink and acted as Foster Hewit, the great hockey annoucer and he sounded like he should be there and we were humourly entertained.

My deepest condolences to the Wall family. I have many fond memories of Bill and Shirley. The Walls were extremely kind and generous and helped me immensely when my grandmother and then mother got very ill.
Bill made Fraser Street a wonderful place to grow up. He was always smiling, in good humour and made everyone feel welcome in the Wall family home. He will be missed!

To Jamie, Kim, Michelle, and Chase,
A beautiful tribute to a wonderful man who meant so much to me. We met when I met my birth father , Doug, and the family became a rock in my life. Bill and I had a special bond as he found his birth family too. He was always someone I could talk to and share things. He was strong while losing Todd and Shirley. He was a rock when I lost Doug. I will miss him . My condolences to all of you…. Love , Tara. Xoxo

Kim and family,
I'm sure you will be overwhelmed with the many stories about your dad over the next while. I hope these memories and stories bring your more smiles than feelings of grief. I really wish I could do something to ease your pain but I know you are surrounded by great people who will at least share your pain. Lots of love to you,
Lynn

Bill was one of the instructors I had when I took a radio broadcasting course at NSIT. I learned a lot from him about broadcasting, sometimes they were just little things, which made a big difference in presentation. Thank you Bill for all you did for me and so many others who took the course. He could be very funny with stories he had about his broadcasting career. Bill also helped me get my first interview for a radio job, which turned out to be successful. Bill was looked up to not only by his family but many other people. He was a good man. Rest in peace Bill.

Kim and Jaimie,
We are sending you our deepest sympathies on Bill’s passing. We have many fond memories of Bill and Shirley when we were neighbours on Fraser Street. Bill always kept an eye on things when I was single .. many evenings I came home to a shovelled and salted doorstep. When our children came along, there were many trips to the St. Francis playground courtesy of Bill. Bill loved to tell a good story and many laughs were shared over the fence. He was a character and you will miss him.
Sincerely
Shelley and Mike Brooker

To the Wall Family, I will never forget Bill and Shirley. They were such kind people and I was in their lives during one of their hardest life choices. I was their Real Estate Agent who sold their home in Halifax. They had a difficult time making the decision to sell. I had many great visits with them and always they were sweet and kind. When the house finally sold, they were excited to move to that shiny new condo. Please accept my condolences and enjoy the many fond memories of your Dad and Mom. They were wonderful people. Darlene

I got to know Bill 4 years ago when j started at Northwood. This obituary sums him up perfectly. If I needed a laugh, I could always count on him to say something hysterical at supper. His shenanigans and giant boom box (that often skipped) are missed. You're not supposed to have favorite tenants, but he sure was mine. Sending my deepest condolences.

Bill was my teacher at the broadcasting school a long time ago... He was the best, he taught the expectation one has of themselves is their best friend or their worst enemy, it was up to oneself to do the work! I think his favorite line when it came to copy was ... Shorten that up this is radio news not a newspaper! I sad to learn of his passing, my condolences to his family and friends. Connie Shay

To Bill's family.
Bill was a fine broadcaster and a wonderful human being.
I had the privilege of working with him at CHNS Halifax in about 1967 or '68.
He had an endless supply of very funny stories about the characters he had met,
and the adventures which marked the various phases of his career in broadcasting.
I will never forget his story about the open mic incident during a
Sunday morning church broadcast in St. Johns. I was a wonderful period to be in
radio. The people were great, and the pranks never-ending. RIP Bill, you were an original!
