Obituary of William Francis Wall

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Bill Wall on January 15, 2022 at the age of 86 at Northwood Manor. Bill grew up in Halifax, attended College Street School and St. Patrick’s Boys High School. During the early years of a career in broadcasting, Bill travelled throughout the Atlantic Provinces, and it was while living in Amherst that Bill met his wife of 52 years, Shirley. They settled in Halifax where Bill eventually became an instructor at the Nova Scotia School of Broadcasting. He continued to teach in the adult education system until his retirement. A family man, his children have fond memories of weekend movie nights and his gourmet PB sandwiches while Shirley worked shiftwork as a nurse. Their family home was always a gathering place for friends. “Pop” adored his grandson, and they were often out on adventures during his toddler years. Bill was adopted as young boy. In his early 60’s, he began a search and located 3 aunts in NS and a brother, George, in BC. Both families connected and created a bond that lasts to this day. Bill and Shirley hosted a professional student from China, Jianchao, and he and his family are considered to be family members today. Bill had a great sense of humour and his favourite past time was telling a good story to anyone who would listen. He was a kind and gentle soul. His social nature served him well at Northwood where he was able to make friends with staff and tenants and enjoy the daily group dinners and comradery. Predeceased by his adoptive parents, James, and May (Rundle) and siblings: Mary, Florence, Joseph (Doris), George, and John; and George (Hanne), BC. Predeceased by his youngest son, Todd, and his wife Shirley (Vey). Survived by his son, Jamie (Sandy), and daughter Kim, daughter in law, Michelle, and grandson Chase, and many nieces and nephews. Having lived out of province for decades, Jamie and Kim are grateful for the support that they received, owing a debt of gratitude to family members and long-time friends: Tammy, Denise, and Corbett; Roy and Jeanette; David and Greta; Nancy, Joanie, Colleen, Jianchao, Randal; and last, but not least, Michelle. A special thank you to Twinkle and Pam for their care and compassion at Northwood. At Bill’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northwood. https://northwood.care/northwood-foundation/
