Obituary of Anne Teresa Redmond
Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Halifax (formerly of Sydney and Truro), passed peacefully on December 19, 2021 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre (VG Site) with family at her side, having led a fulfilled life spanning 101 years.
Born in Whitney Pier to the late Peter and Ludwika (Gorniak) Tynski, who immigrated to Sydney from Wolczuchy, Galicia (previously Poland, now Ukraine).
Beloved mother of James (Sandra), Noreen, and Brian (Patricia). Cherished Babcia of Jay (Dianna) and Philip (Lisa); Patrick (Angela), Robyn, Allyson, and Kimberly; Peter (Jessica), Eileen (Dan), and Erin (Peter); and fourteen great-grandchildren. Dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by devoted husband James (2000); sisters Frances Durkacz, Katie Peltz, and Mary Wojick; brothers Joseph, Stanley, Frank, John, Tony, and Peter; and lifelong friend Stella Paruch (2019).
Anne was a devout member of St. Mary’s Polish Parish (Whitney Pier) and enjoyed working for many years at Simpsons-Sears/The Bay’s candy counter (Halifax). Anne’s latter years at Victoria Hall were among her happiest. She deeply appreciated the friendship, concern, and prayers extended by her fellow Victoria Hall residents, the Sisters of Charity, friend Sally Mitchell, and Caritas Residence staff. Anne’s family is beholden to Lenora Greer, Sister Fleurette Sweeney, Sister Pat Wilson, Father Duncan MacMaster, and the exceptional medical staff at the QEII HSC’s Infirmary and VG Sites, whose kindness, compassion, and care made Anne’s last days peaceful.
Per Anne’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Next summer, a memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Polish Church with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
Donations in Anne’s memory to St. Mary’s Polish Parish or the Victoria Hall Society would be welcome.
