Dar was one of the best. Nobody could quote sections of the policy working like Dar. Extremely knowledgeable with a true love for handling claims. I often joked that she was a perfectionist to the point you didn’t even want to send a report in with a misspelling. Thorough to the extreme which made her a valuable asset to any company. Dar, I truly miss our chats over the past 20 years. I hope you’re having a blast with Lori!

I’ll miss you Dar. I learned a lot from you. Tough but fair and way sweeter than you let on. I’ll miss your stories about your trips to the Casino or just chatting about life in general. Rest easy girl, we’ll see you again some day

What can I say about Dar....not Darlene....she didn't like to be called that. Those of us who truly knew her, loved her. She was a hardnose on her claims. We all knew that and she prized herself on that fact. The first claim I ever handled I reported to Dar. That was quite the learning experience and she continued to educate me all the way through as she did many others. She became a true confidant, friend and mother figure to a lot of us. When she loved you, she loved you and when she didn't....well you know the rest. I am deeply saddened by the fact that she will no longer be there to reach out to for guidance or a friendly chat. Dar was the most honest person I have ever known. She had a kind heart and loved to laugh. Most of all she loved Reg and her life with him. My heartfelt condolences go out to Reg and Family. Knowing she has now reunited with her daughter offers some relief to our sorrow. Goodbye my friend. I will never forget you.....

I worked on many files with Darlene. She was one of the brightest women in the business. I will never forget her calm , clear explanation of a very complex insurance clause, as a witness in a trial in Supreme Court. I counted her as a friend. I am sorry to hear of her death, and I hope that I will hear f the time and place of a celebration of her life

When I began my career as an independent insurance adjuster 35 years ago, Darlene was one of the first and most frequent claims examiners I reported to. I credit her with making me a better adjuster. She was kind to me, even when I made mistakes. She had a wonderful sense of humour, even though it took a few phone calls before I was able to tell the differences between her being serious, and her teasing me. She will be greatly missed. I send my sincere condolences to her family, who I know will miss her dearly. Brian Morgan

My deepest condolences to my Uncle Reggie for his loss. She was his soulmate and a good person. Although out of touch for a number of years, I have lots of good memories of the times we shared when I would come home to Halifax. Her laugh was infectious and would get everyone else laughing. She will be missed. Prayers for my uncle Reg and his family that they will come through this with many fond memories that will hold them until they meet again.

I was shocked and deeply saddened when I heard that Dar' had passed, tempered only by the thought that she would now be reunited with her daughter as she told me many times she knew in her heart would one day happen. I will miss you my friend and colleague. You, who possessed a good heart and caring for those around you. My condolences to Reg and family.

I was very sorry to hear of Darlene's passing. I worked with Darlene at Portage between 2009 - 2015 and we shared many a laugh - sometimes at my expense but sometimes at her expense. I had met Darlene once previously but we quickly became friends - I enjoyed chatting with her and bouncing things off her as to perhaps how she might handle a similar situation. Her knowledge and recall was phonemical. I knew of her daughter's passing and how that loss affected her. She spoke often of you Reg and all that you meant to her. I lost my wife due to an accident in 2018 and Darlene reached out to check in on me. Please know she will be missed by many - she had garnered much respect within her chosen profession.
Respectfully,
Doug McMillan

I am so sorry for you loss. I also worked with Dar at Portage for over 16 years. I still remember transferring from “out west” and although I was closer to my East coast home I was adjusting. Dar was one of the first to check in on me. I mean really check in on how I was doing. She would often do that. No matter what was going on in her space she would take the time and help others feel comfortable. We had many after office hour chats, many shared lunches and a few really good heart to hearts. Hope there is some peace in that she is with her daughter. Sending our love. Tracey Down and family.

I was very saddened to hear the news of Dar passing. I worked with her for a number of years at Economical and we saw each other through many happy and sad times. Many lunch hours and evenings were spent wiping tears or holding hands at Pizza Delight. Through it all though we knew life had more in store for both of us. She met and fell in love with Reg and he brought her smile back and made her soul lighter. For this I thank you Reg. There is no Claims Heaven for any of us "Seasoned" adjusters so I will not say she was an amazing adjuster, she will always be remembered by me as a great friend, an exceptional Mom, protective sister, a great daughter and a professional flat coke drinker!!! Tell Laurie and Maureen I say Hi and think of them often. Much Love, Michelle

I also worked with Dar at Economical. Continued our working relationship for over 35 years until I retired Me as a broker & she in claims. She was my go many times over the years. She had so much experience and was always willing to share. Laurie’s funeral was one of the saddest I’d ever attend. She was Dar’s world. So happy they will be spending eternity together. Sincerest condolences to Dar’s family.

So sorry to hear of Darlene’s passing. Worked with Darlene at Economical Insurance for many years. She was the very first person I met there as she was the receptionist at that time. She would correct me on pronunciation of the managers name as I couldn’t quite say it right in the beginning. She turned out to be a good friend back in the day. Haven’t seen her in a few years but often thought of her.
May you Rest In Peace Darlene and give your daughter and Maureen a big hug from me. Until we meet again my friend ❤️

I worked with Darlene for 10 years. I do not know anyone who knew the insurance property better than her. She knew her stuff. She had a rough exterior but gentle and a lamb. I am so sorry she suffered and hope and pray she is now at peace and not worrying about her family she has left behind. I will miss you Darlene. Rest in Peace. Nora Picard.
