Obituary of Ralph Douglas Pickrem
Please share a memory of Ralph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Born in Halifax Nova Scotia he was the son of the late Gerald and Margaret Pickrem.
It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Ralph Douglas Pickrem on September 29, 2021 at the QEII, Halifax Infirmary site, with family by his side.
In his younger years, Ralph loved hunting, hockey and most of all, baseball. He played at a high level of fastball for many teams over the years. Ralph was known around the region for his countless tape measuring homeruns.
Ralph worked for Coca-cola for over 30 years. Most recently, Ralph enjoyed playing crib at the Legions in Waverley and Fairview. Ralph was a big guy with a big heart. He would do anything for anyone. He could always be counted on for an early morning or late-night drive to the airport. He loved a good story and was quick with a joke. Papa was loved so much by his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen (Burns) of 47 years; son, Doug (Tracy); daughter, Jenny (Brett); brothers, Wayne (Viola), Donny (Donna); sister, Sheila; grand children, Zach, Madison, Lily, Claire, and Liam; brothers-in-law, and sisters in-law, from the Burns family, and lifelong friend, Curtis Nickerson. Ralph had many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Gerald, and Kenny.
There will be a celebration of life on October 10, 2021 from 2 to 4 PM at the Waverley Legion, 2234 Rocky Lake Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the QE2 foundation.
