82, of Timberlea passed away September 8th, 2021, in the QEII Victoria General site. Born in Halifax Nova Scotia to the late, Walter and Vera (Vail) Rockwell. Barbara loved to harmonize growing up in a musical family and continued singing with the Bethany Chorale. Sewing and quilting was a passion of hers for many years as was golfing. She worked as a medical secretary for dermatologist Dr. Nemethy and heart specialist Dr. Roy. Barbara enjoyed the camaraderie of being part of her WW group gave her, as well as her weekly exercise friends. In earlier years, she and Fred enjoyed traveling to many interesting places. Left with many loving memories, her husband, Fred Oxner, together for 62+ years; her children, Rhonda (Doug) Brown; Pictou, Brad (Colleen Fitzgerald); Timberlea, Mark (Craig Larson); Montreal; Siblings, Evelyn (Gordon Bennett), Alex (Joyce), and Jim; sisters-in-law, Opal, and Barbara; her grandson, Jared, who brought her great joy. And many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robie (Helen), Murray (Sylvia), Clyde, Walter ‘Bud’ (Betty), George, Beatrice and brother-in-law, Lloyd. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Erin Gorman-Corsten and all the staff on 7A VG Palliative Care wing for their exceptional care and kindness. Barbara was loved and will be deeply missed by those who knew her. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Lung Association of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Cancer Society. Due to Covid restrictions, funeral service will be held by invitation only on Tuesday Sept. 14 at 2pm, from T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax (902) 835-4212, with Reverend Kevin Little Officiating. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
