Obituary of Theresa Stapleton

The family of Theresa Stapleton (69) of Bedford NS are saddened to announce her passing on June 15, 2021, with family at her side. Theresa was born in Bay du Nord, a small seaside community in Fortune Bay NL that was resettled in the early 1960’s. Always reminiscing fondly of her early days living in this community, Theresa began her formative years in humble beginnings with lots of love among her family and friends. At age 12, her family moved to Bishop Falls where she completed her education. After working for a few years, she met Bill and the two were married in 1975, eventually moving to Ontario in 1979. While living in Ontario, Theresa and Bill had their two sons and shortly after, moved to Bedford NS in 1988. It is in Bedford where they built a new home and raised their family for more than thirty years. She was active with her children, supporting many of the school and basketball activities while volunteering at St Ignatius church throughout the years. Theresa returned to university and graduated in 1995 as a Dental Hygienist from Dalhousie University, and worked in this field until she retired. After her retirement, she and Bill enjoyed travelling with family, including vacations to Florida and two European cruises. She loved to play cards and enjoyed spending time with her sisters and brother. She will be missed by all of them. Leaving to mourn is her husband and best friend of 46 years, Bill; sons, Matthew, and David (Molly); sisters, Bessie (Richard) Lundrigan, Jean (Jim) Bongard, Marcie Bongard, Mary (Dave) Chown, Anna (Frank) Armstrong, Marg (Gord) Lannon; brother, Augustine; along with many nieces, nephews, and good friends. Theresa was predeceased by her parents, Reginald, and Marion Fitzpatrick; as well as her brother, Thomas. A special thank to all the staff of the Halifax Infirmary 8.2 and the Cobequid Center in Lower Sackville. Arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax, 902-835-4212. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
