I was devastated to learn that the gentle man from Newfoundland who was so full of life, energy and positivity, had passed away.
Those days at 40 Charlotte Lane, when we hung out in the hallways and our apartments with Finbar, Jill and his tiny little girls at the time are memories I often remember. His hardworking nature, determination, and grace were qualities that as a young man I admired. I always wanted to be a family man with Finbar’s outlook and values.
My deepest condolences to Jill, the girls and all other family members and friends. Although we lost touch, his impact has been everlasting. The world just dimmed a little for me.
May he rest peacefully.

Jill, Candice and Emilie, We are very sorry and saddened to hear of Finbar's unexpected diagnosis and passing. I always enjoyed Finbar's company as we painted my home together at times, and so did my daughter. Finbar was so thoughtful, friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to whether it was about travel, his favourite music, or just life. I happened to run into him at the Lawton's parking lot at Millcove during COVID when he was doing some painting in the clinic. He was always so thoughtful, and asked about my whole family by name, and updated me about all of you, who he thought the world of. He will always be thought of fondly and dearly missed. To Jill and the girls
We are so shocked to hear of Finbar’s passing. We got to know him shortly after we moved here to NS 5 years ago. Along with the amazing job he did painting, we enjoyed his company and bonding as Newfoundlanders. Loved his stories of his family, his Newfoundland stories and his treasure hunting on weekends. It was easy to see that he loved and was proud of his three girls.
Our grandson, 3 at the time he painted our downstairs took quite the shine to him and would sit on the steps to watch him paint and converse with him. He still remembers that Finbar got rid of the ugly red paint in his playroom and painted it banana yellow.
He’s gone way too soon but he’s left a lot of good memories for his family and those who knew him. Our deepest condolences.

Jill, Candice, Emilie & Tobin Family, Very sorry to hear of Finbar's passing. He was such a fine and gentle soul. I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of meeting up with him again 10 years ago. We would certainly try and touch base three or four times a year. I always looked forward to his call. His love for his family, his love for home and of course picking red berries. Finbar's stories were so clear, it was as if I had been with him. God speed my buddy and may it be a nice clear day on Ship Cove barrens with a nice dry spot for mug up!

Sending my sincere condolences to all of Finbar’s family . I was saddened and shocked to hear of Finbar’s passing . Although I did not see Finbar since he left his home in NL , many years ago , I have many fond memories of him. Finbar lived in Ship Cove and I lived in the next community, Patrick’s Cove . He had many friends and we shared many laughs in our teenage years .No matter how much he tormented me by pulling on my hair, on the school bus I could never get mad with him . His kind and gentle nature will never be forgotten. He treated everyone with respect and he was loved in return . He visited my sister on one of his last trips home, but unfortunately I missed him . Rest easy my friend until we meet again on the other side ! God Bless you all .

We were so sorry to hear of Finbar's passing. We first met Finbar over 20 yrs ago when he came to paint our home. He was an expert painter and a true gentleman. Over the years he returned several times to paint for us and we soon considered him a friend. Each time we saw him he shared updates about his family. He beamed with pride when he talked about his girls Candice and Emilie. He convinced us one October to visit the Haunted Hallow, and then took great delight in jumping out at us with a chainsaw, in fine Freddie Kruger form. Finbar had a big personality and a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed. Our deepest condolences to Jill, Candice, Emilie, and family.

So sorry to hear of Finbar's passing, Sincere condolences to Jill, Candice ,Emilie, Stan, Jeff and Margaret.
Seems like yesterday that Finbar set next to me on the school bus going to St. Brides to School.
Him and his Mother came to Mass in Patrick's Cove every Saturday evening and their pew was behind ours, of course it was a job in itself to keep my brothers and Finbar quite as they were dying to 'talk'to each other.
I will always remember his big dark eyes- dark as 'molasses' we would say.
Finbar never forgot his roots and took joy in connecting with people when he came home.
A gentle kind soul gone way too soon.
Rest in peace Finbar ,God Bless to all.

Only 13½ weeks after a cancer diagnosis, my incredibly beautiful and loving husband passed from this world quickly and without pain:
As everyone who knew him knows, you couldn't help but love him.
Fin enjoyed hockey and old cars, loved nature and local history.
He was also genuinely interested in and cared about people,
always having the time and an ear to lend to those of us
who needed someone to talk to.
Dear Finnegan, I am so going to miss your dark brown eyes that often
sparkled with a child's delight when recounting your day or the discovery
of a new and fascinating person or place. Also the grin full of mischief and
the contagious belly chuckle when telling me about a prank or practical joke
that you did or will pull on some poor unsuspecting soul.
There really are no words to express how very grateful I am to have
known you, to have loved you and to have had you love me,
unconditionally. xox
