MAHER, Ted “Edward John”- Age 77 of Lower Sackville, passed away in his home with his loving family surrounding him on February 1st, 2021. Ted was born in Halifax; he was the son of the late Joseph Elliott and Gertrude (Haley) Maher. He grew up with 5 brothers and 1 sister. As a teen, he loved spending his time in the Glen Margaret Summer house with his family, Hiking, Hunting, and fishing with his brother, going to the racetrack with his Dad and family. As he got older, he attended night classes at St. Mary’s University to study Accounting. One of his proudest accomplishments was getting his Professional CA Degree. He had a great passion for Harness Racing and Horse Shows. In his 24th year he met Katherine (Kathy) Moore. They fell in love at the Jubilee Boat Club at a dance. Within a year they had stared a family, complete with John and Clarissa. As a family they loved Summer Vacations, fishing and hunting, harness racing and horse shows. Being a kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Ted and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family. In addition to his partner Katherine (Kathy), John and Clarissa, Ted is survived by his grandsons, Joe, Nick Maher, Dawson, and Zack Rouse; great granddaughter Olivia Curren; brother, Ronald (Chook) Maher, Brookside; sister, Betty Etter, Fairview; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Alan, Gerald, Lorne and Ralph Maher. Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax. In keeping with Ted’s wishes there will be a visitation on Thursday February 11, 2021 from 2-4 & 6-8. His family will be present to welcome loved ones. A funeral service held on Friday February 12, 2021 at 2 p.m. at T. J .Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialist .
