John David 'Dave' Proctor, 84 Glace Bay John David 'Dave' Proctor, 84, of Glace Bay, passed away on January 27, 2021 at the Glace Bay Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Glace Bay, Dave was the son of the late Harold and Mary Catherine (Murray) Proctor. Dave was well known in the community as a kind and easygoing guy, who was willing to help a hand whenever needed. He delivered the Cape Breton Post with Jackie Ferguson for many years and got to know many people when doing that. He was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame as Equipment Manager for Glace Bay Miners Hockey Team; Dave held this position with the team from 1956-1964. He was a huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leaf’s and showed great pride when wearing their Jersey. Dave loved to dance, whether it be at a dance hall or just out and about, his legs would just start moving. There are many stories to be told about Dave, but for now we would like for you to share them with each other. Dave is survived by his brother, James (Barbara) Proctor; Sisters, Liz Tanner, Marjorie Proctor (Joe) and Theresa O’Brien; many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by good friends, Jackie Ferguson, Red Mick MacIntyre and Jimmy Hoffman. Besides his parents, Harold and Mary Catherine, Dave was predeceased by brothers, Mikey, Joey, Alfred, and Francis “Pete”, sisters, Mary June, Donna and Rose, brother-in-law, Ernie O’Brien, and best friend Butch Hoffman. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetic Association of Cape Breton. At this time, the family would like to thank Dr. MacKillop, Dr. Asim, Dr. Mark Elleker and Dr. Ley; as well as the nurses and staff of the ER and 3 West units at the Glace Bay Hospital, for all the care and compassion given to Dave during the past number of years.
