Today we are here to celebrate the life of a beautiful, dignified, kindhearted woman who was taken away from us all way too soon. Susie was a noble person who added so much to other peoples lives she came in contact with. I am very fortunate to be one of those people.
Everyone in attendance here today and countless others understand and realize the positive impact she had on them personally. Susie had that gift. The whole time I’ve known her she always put other people first before herself. She was the best listener I have ever come in contact with and when she spoke it was worth listening to. Her quiet wisdom was only one of her many skills.
I had the luxury of knowing Susie my whole life and the benefits from that are endless. I’m not just talking about her delicious homemade baked goods or her exceptional skills in the kitchen. Though to this day I’ve never had a better lobster sandwich or homemade apple pie. The warm memories of countless fun filled Summer vacations on Hay Street to the wonderful Christmas celebrations surrounded by family and friends. Susie worked so hard to make whatever the occasion was special and memorable for everyone. I think I can honestly say that she always succeeded.
She proudly raised her son Brad into the honest, strong man he is today and everyone agrees that pride she felt was justified. Susie loved all of her Grandchildren: Hanna, Abby, and Emma undeniably and would do anything to help them, no matter what. Her very own sisters and brothers looked up to her because of her strength and character. These are things she would never expect recognition or praise for because that’s just who she was. She was Susie.
My Father was so happy to have her in his life and proud to call her his wife.
I know this because I saw it in his eyes and witnessed the joy on his face when Susie and him were together. That’s what Susie did her whole life, she made other people around her feel love and compassion. She made people want to be better.
We lost a very special person when Susie put down her sword for the last time. She was a courageous fighter to the bitter end and left us all with memories of happiness, family, encouragement, and endless generosity. Lets all of us use the quiet knowledge she shared with each and everyone of us in our daily lives and into the future. We would all be better for it.
Thank you Susie, thank you for being you. - Chuck Campbell

I had the pleasure of being a friend of Susies as we both attended Sterling School. Susie was always so mild, soft nature and a true friend always seeing the good in everyone. I would often say to her “Come on Susie .” We went our separate paths and met her last year at hers and my granddaughters graduation. Same person and a true lady. Condolences Brad and Family...Gone too soon.. Thoughts and prayers ...Mary O”Connell
