Sheldon ‘Shum’ Clarke
Glace Bay
It is with broken hearts that we, the family announce the passing of our dear brother, Shum on December 18, 2020 at the Glace Bay General Hospital, after a short but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
Shum was born in Glace Bay to the late Herbert ‘Lefty’ and Catherine ‘Cato’ Clarke.
He was employed for many years at the Glace Bay Super Store. Sheldon enjoyed all sports and was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan. He played baseball in his younger years and loved a game of horseshoes, darts and ring toss. On hot summer days he enjoyed paddling his dinghy along the Table Head shore and biking became his passion over the years.
Shum was a quiet, kind hearted soul and a very proud ‘Tableheader’. He loved his community and all the wonderful people in it. He played an active role in preparing for “Table Head Days” which he looked forward to each year.
Left to deeply mourn his loss are his brothers, Ted (Anita) Clarke, twin brother and best friend, Eldon (Denise) Clarke; sisters Sharon (Fred) Jamieson, Betty Clarke, Shauna Clarke, Jodi (Bill) Morrison; special aunt Eleanor Boozan; many nieces and nephews who he dearly loved as well as his fur baby Lily.
Shum was predeceased by his mother and father, nieces Denise Michelle Jamieson (in infancy) and Gena (Clarke) Kane.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral services.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Rest in Peace, Shum, Until We Meet Again, Forever in Our Hearts.
