To the Clarke family: Kathy and I are so sorry to hear this heartbreaking news. Growing up as a “tableheader” ( and being a friend of the Clarke family) I have very fond, wonderful , and lasting memories of Shummy and your whole family. Shummy was the ‘Best’ young man and grew up an absolute gentlemen. He always had a smile on his face and was a “ friend” to anyone who needed one. I am very sorry to hear of Shum's passing. I have lots of fond memories playing fastball in the Bay. He was a true gentleman and showed great sportsmanship. I always enjoyed the chats and laughs I had with him during and after the many games and tournaments we played there. May you find solace in the many great memories spent with him. My thoughts and prayers are with Shum's family and friends at this very difficult time. Rest in peace Shum.

Oh how I will miss your smile and welcoming hug. I'm so glad I got to see you when I was home for a visit. You are going to be so missed. My very first experience being welcomed into the Table Head community was a visit to Shum's on a Friday night where everyone was playing darts. You all became my friends and family. I hit my first 180 in the barn. God bless you all and I'm so sorry for your loss.. You are such amazing people I'm so sorry I can't be there to give everyone a hug but please know I'm carrying a very heavy heart and lots of great memories. You will be forever missed Shum. Sincere condolences to the Clake family. How many evenings in our younger years ,Shum sat at the edge of many drains and the coal field in Table Head, singing his favorite Charlie Pride songs with friends, I had the pleasure to be one of them.
