Wilma Elaine, age 69, Halifax
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Wilma Elaine MacKinnon, of Aspy Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, on September 23rd, 2020.
Wilma was the daughter of the late John Archie MacKinnon and Rachel (Dixon) MacKinnon of Smelt Brook, Nova Scotia.
She is survived by her children; John Arthur Solomon (Merle) of Aspy Bay, NS, Jennifer Fraser (Norman) of Sydney, NS, Chad Solomon of Peterborough, Ontario, Jeannie Bonnar (Shane) of Meat Cove, NS, Christian Solomon of Halifax, NS, her grandchildren; Marilyn, Colby, James, Ashley, Sabrina, Amber, Molly, Gemma, and great-grandchildren; Tyler Rose, Amara and Aleckdan and Maisy Jade; She is also survived by her siblings; Clara Bourque (Gayous), Stella (Angus) MacLean, Virginia Briand and many nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by her daughter; Elaine, Sisters; Jean and Martha Bell; great grandchild, Oliver.
Wilma was and continues to be greatly loved by those close to her. She was a dedicated supportive mother, proud and loving grandmother, great grandmother, the youngest of the closely-knit “Fab 4 McKinnon sisters”, a bright light too many of the elderly in her community, especially Joe Curtis, whom she adored. She was there for her friends when and where she was needed, which was frequently. We will not forget her sense of humour, sassiness, hospitality, competitiveness (especially at cards and dice), independence (stubbornness) and her enormous perseverance in the face of many adversities. She loved figure skating and was obsessed with curling. Your “hurry hard” days are over now raise a glass to the team left behind.
"The family would also like to send out thanks to the amazing staff at the Dixon Centre who gave Wilma great care, to Northwood Homecare for all their support. And to the drivers for Access-a-bus all of whom became like family to Wilma
There will be no visitation a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Pinkalicious, care of Michelle Leblanc, Ingonish, NS.
