Dear Diana and family,
Harris and I learned just yesterday, September 17th, of your dear mother’s passing. Harris had taken a religious education course with your mom many years ago. They never forgot each other and would meet, jovially, at the grocery store or at other local venues! That is how I met her! Then I met you, Diana, and found that delightful lady had an equally lovely daughter. We are so sorry for this terrible loss. We know this mom meant everything to her children, and they, to her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Sincerely,
Eileen (Morford) and Harris Martin

Our phone conversation in August was one of the hardest I've ever had. I didn't want to get off the phone with her and didn't know how to say good bye. She was just so easy to talk to. She told the story of these two roosters which had me choking back tears. She was pure love and made you better for knowing her. I hadn't prayed in years but when I got off the phone with her I had to say a little prayer for my Aunt Marie. Sending so much love to all the family.

Although I am unable to be there in person know that I am in spirit. Marie was the most selfless person I know. The last time I saw Marie was at Mark and Jen's wedding. When Marie arrived in Calgary from Glace Bay she brought a suitcase full of pizza. Marie knew it woul be dinner time when she arrived and she wanted to make sur every one was able to eat. So Marie being Marie picked up lots of pizza from the local favorite pizza place for everyone to enjoy, Marie lived her life fully.he was an amazing woman who took great pleasure from her family and her nursing career. To know Marie was to love her as we all did. Patricia

Aunt Marie made the world a better place to live in. She exemplified what it means to be a caring, selfless, and loving human. Through her lifelong work as a nurse to being the pillar of the Poloni x MacDonald family, she has always been a beacon of stability and warmth to those encountering uncertain times. She has passed down those positive traits and values to her kids who are kindhearted, supportive, and humble. I am thinking of the whole family with a loving but heavy heart and I hope to see you all soon <3

Deepest condolences to the Poloni and MacDonald families. Marie and I were friends back at St Michaels Senior High. We lost touch over the years but I always remember her positive attitude. Last time I heard from her she was really loving her profession as a nurse. With her kind disposition and love of nursing, I can only imagine she was an absolute credit to her profession. R.I.P.

Sorry for the family's loss Jean Marie was a wonderful person and that made her even a better nurse and mother. She worked in OBS with my mother in law who thought the world of her and looked after me when I had my 2 youngest sons. So very sorry for your loss. Marie was involved in all of my deliveries and was so caring and knowledgeable. She actually delivered my middle daughter as she came so quick there was no time for the doctor to get there. She was a true angel and gift to all the families she helped.

I was very lucky to have the privilege of working with Jean Marie for many years at the Glace Bay General Hospital. She spoke often of her children and grandchildren proudly sharing all their accomplishments. She was the best story teller, and I truly loved sitting and listening to her many travel adventures. She was brave, hard-working, generous, and truly a beautiful person who would do all she could for someone . She never passed judgement, even when her beliefs were questioned. She could knit so well, not even watching while she did, making beautiful creations, and picking up my dropped stitches a time or two. I am so thankful she was a part of my life, and I can only hope to someday be half the woman and nurse that Jean Marie was. May you all find the strength in each other and comfort knowing she’s back in the arms of her love . My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with you all.

I’m so sorry to hear of the death of this wonderful lady! Jean Marie was an amazing mother and mother figure to many, a skilled and nurturing Obstetrics nurse, a beautiful kind person. I first met her when I attended a function with friends before she left for her work with CUSO, and was impressed by her courage and beauty. Later I was privileged to work with her at both Glace Bay hospitals for years. She and Dino were beautiful together and family was everything to them. She was a good, kind neighbour to my mom on Beacon Street and so generous. The day of Doug’s funeral my family sat to a turkey dinner with all the trimmings prepared by Jean Marie in her kindness.I’m just one of many who could speak of her humble kind spirit, faith and giving nature.
Rest In Peace Jean Marie. I hope you are enjoying your reunion with loved ones and dancing in the arms of your Dino.❤️
