Obituary of Daniel Francis MacDonald

MACDONALD, Daniel “Danny” Francis- Age 81 of Halifax, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel Francis MacDonald on Sunday May 31, 2020. Born in Little Judique Ponds, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late John William and Margaret Vera MacDonald. Danny was Co-owner of Maritime Rentals and Nova Rug in his younger years before moving on to become a taxi driver for Casino Taxi until his retirement. Danny enjoyed sports and was an umpire for Softball Nova Scotia for many years as well as a referee for Lacrosse. He loved watching Saturday Night Hockey games and was a true Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan. Danny had a witty sense of humour and had lots of unusual funny sayings. He will be greatly missed by all his family, friends, and staff at Cousins Restaurant. A special Thank you to Mike Salterio for being his good friend over the years. Danny is survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Raymond, Stan, John; sisters, Marguerite (Thorne) and Sally (Payne) and in childhood, brothers Daniel Francis and John Francis MacDonald as well as sister Mary. Cremation and arrangements have been entrusted to T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Halifax, NS. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Danny will be laid to rest with his mother (Margaret) and brothers, Raymond, Stan and John at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
