Obituary of C.W. John Colwell

We are saddened to announce the passing of John on April 25th, 2019, at the QEII Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Col. Cyril Henry and Dorothy (Wheeler) Colwell.
After graduating from Dalhousie, John joined the family business, Colwell Bros., as the third generation, in 1965. During his career, he was a member of the Hfx. Executive Club, Hfx. Rotary Club, Downtown Business Assoc., City Club, and the Northwest Commercial Travellers Assoc. John also served on the board of the Canadian Diabetes Assoc. both locally and nationally. After retirement, he became a volunteer for the Dalhousie Simulated Patient Program, which was very dear to his heart.
John is survived by his soul mate, Sharron; sons Andrew (Suzanne) and Scott (Donna); grandchildren Alicea, Kaitlyn, and Evan; sister Ann (Tom) Murdoch; many nieces and nephews; and by his NS Duck Toller, The Duke.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 5th, 2019 from 6-8 pm, at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax NS, 902-835-4212). A memorial service will be held at the Cathedral Church of All Saints, 1330 Cathedral Lane, Hfx., on Monday, May 6th, at 2pm with burial to follow in the church columbarium. Reception to follow in the Great Hall.
