Shirley was our step-mom (and step-mom-in-law), and grandmother to our children. We loved her very, very much. Every visit to see Shirley meant laughter, and hugs, and conversations, and hand rubs, and new pictures to share. When she was still sharing a home with Stan, visits meant too much food, and music, and snuggles. "Eat up and give the house a good name!", she would say, and the kids would laugh every time. After Shirley moved to her first apartment in Northwood, visits were preceded by "I'd love some clams and chips!" She enjoyed her favorite foods, and we enjoyed watching her. It was hard when we moved away.
Our last visit from Ontario this past fall, she told me she loved me, and I wondered if maybe she remembered some snippet of a moment once shared. Rest in peace dear woman. You were loved and you will be missed by Roger, Ramona, Eric, Zachary, Brett and Claire Keeping. Godspeed to bluer skies...and may peace follow you.
