Obituary of Hugh Joseph MacInnis
Please share a memory of Hugh to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Age 77, Halifax, passed away in the comfort of his home on February 8, 2020, with his loving wife, Diana, by his side.
Hugh was born on September 29, 1942 in Port Hood, Cape Breton, to Colin and Elizabeth MacInnis. As a very young man he moved to Halifax where he spent the rest of his life. Hugh was a plumber by trade who operated his own business until three weeks ago.
Hugh found joy in the simple things; a good game of crib, golf trips with friends and family and having a coffee at Tim's. He was a friend of Bill W's for 40+ years. He was immensely proud of his family, always on the sidelines cheering for his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Diana (Slaunwhite). His children, Cheryl (Todd) Mitchell, Heather (John) Nicholson, Colin (Andrea) MacInnis, Jeffrey (Tracy) MacInnis, Richard (Ashley) MacInnis. Grandchildren, Chelsea, Spencer (Ryan), Taylor (Troy), Robyn (Andrew), Courtney (Thomas), Hunter, Joseph, Noah, Lilly and Piper. Great-grandchildren, Finn, Leo, Lachlan and Stella. He was predeceased by his son, Kristopher. He was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews.
We, his family, would like to express our sincere thanks to all of his great friends who rallied around him these past few months and weeks. From visits, coffee runs, card games, taking him to his treatments and daily calls. He felt so loved by all of you, thank you so much.
A celebration of Hugh's life will be held at St. Andrews Anglican Church in Timberlea on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at 10:00 am. A reception will follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
