Max Carl Kimm Broughton/Birch Grove It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Max Kimm, our very special brother and uncle, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, at the age of 88 years. Max was formerly of Broughton / Birch Grove where he lived in his family home, until he became ill with Parkinson’s , which placed him in a nursing home in Amherst, Nova Scotia. After a few years he was brought back to his family and placed at the nursing home in Sydney. In his earlier years, Max worked several places as a laborer, including the Heavy Water Plant and different construction companies. He also worked at Hopkins Fish Plant, Port Morien as a night guard. He was a passionate sport fisherman and hunter. Max was an animal lover and could always be found with the loves of his life, his black labs, Nero 1 and then Nero 2. He was a fun loving and kind hearted man, who always had a little story or two to tell. He was a special uncle to all his nieces and nephews, especially Daniel Dean who cared for him since he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Born on September 13, 1931, he was the son of the late Walter and Helen (Mann) Kimm. Max is survived by his loving sisters, Johanna Dean, Birch Grove and Annie Dean, BC who which, he looked forward to their visits and phone calls. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Alfred (wife Violet), Henry, Carl, Walter (wife Evelyn) and sister, Lena McLean. He will be missed by all his nieces and nephews who all loved him and had a special place in their heart for him, Danny Dean, Sydney, Terry Dean, Glace Bay, Aaron Dean, North Sydney, Dave Dean, BC, Cheryl Colbert, BC, Glen Dean, BC, Wayne Kimm, Mira, Margaret McLean, Ontario, George McLean, Ottawa, Carolyn Dean, Birch Grove, Daniel Dean, Birch Grove, Cindy Susin, Sydney, Annie Lahey, Catalone, Gordon Kimm, Glace Bay, Alvin Kimm, Port Morien, as well as Pam O’Regan, who was his head nurse and niece, who made sure he was always taken extra special care of. The family would like to thank the staff of Amherst Nursing Home and especially the staff of Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility (Soldiers Cove) for the love and compassion they extended to Max. Cremation has taken place and arrangements are entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199).
