Obituary of Janice Marlene Ryan

Age 60, of Halifax passed peacefully on December 20, 2019 in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Halifax, she was the cherished daughter of Clarence and Vera Ryan, of Terence Bay, who went above and beyond in their continual care each and every day. Living with Cerebral Palsy, Janice was a 41-year resident of Arborstone Enhanced Care in Purcell's Cove. She was often found in the lobby greeting visitors and residents with her infectious smile as she sold 50/50 tickets, a job she took great pride in. Other times she could be found at a sing-a-long, bingo, or happy hour. Janice thoroughly enjoyed socializing and lived her life to the fullest despite her disability. Janice was always dolled up with makeup, manicured nails and beads, from her endless collection. In addition to her loving and devoted parents, Janice is survived by her dear "Sissy", Patrisha (Danny) Forgeron; niece, Stacy Forgeron (Jennifer Russell); nephew, Matthew (Haley) Forgeron; and precious great-nephew, Benson Russell, all of White's Lake; a few special aunts and many cousins as well as her extended family at Arborstone including her dear friend Tammy Logan. Janice was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Bessie and Owen Ryan, maternal grandparents, Dorris and Russell Jollimore, several aunts and uncles. A celebration of life will be held Friday, January 24 at 2:00pm, in Arborstone Enhanced Care, 1430 Purcells Cove Road, Halifax with Rev. Cheryl Rafuse officiating and refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers at Arborstone Enhanced Care for their dedicated care and compassion over the years, as well as the staff of QEII floor 8.1 for their kindhearted care during Janice's last days.
