It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother Joseph MacDonald, age 80, on December 6, 2019.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Harvey and Elizabeth (Campbell) MacDonald. He was a member of St. Anne’s Church. Dad worked 34 years in the Coal Mines for Devco, he was a Mine Supervisor the last half of his career and was a member of the Mine Rescue for 23 years.
After he retired he found the enjoyment of golf at Passchendaele and he loved to skate. Joe also gave to the World Vision for 25 years.
Joe is survived by his six children; Brenda( Ross) Toronto, Keith (Joanne) Dartmouth, Glen, Kim both of Ontario, Paulette (Bruce) and Joey (Sheri) all of Glace Bay. Joe is also survived by his best friend and soul mate of 20 years, Judith Cameron; brother Reggie (Millie); sisters Margaret (Ray)Morrison, Denise (Gerald) Clarkson and Nancy (Bernie) Ellsworth; his 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother James MacDonald and sister Colleen Martin, as well as the mother of his children Sally (MacMullin) MacDonald.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 3 p.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199)
