Charlotte Christine Green
Glace Bay
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charlotte Green, age 82 on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, Charlotte was the daughter of the late James and Mary (MacLeod) MacLean. She married our father in 1956. During our dad's military career they spent 3 years in Germany and several years in Gagetown, New Brunswick where they made many life long friends. We then lived in Aylmer, Ontario for a brief time before moving back to Glace Bay in 1975. Dad passed away in 1993, a loss she never got over.
Charlotte loved music. She enjoyed listening to dad play the fiddle among the many instruments he knew how to play. She never missed a concert at the Savoy. In addition to music, our mom was an avid reader and you could always find her at coffee time with her friends at Tim Hortons.
Charlotte is survived by her son Barry (Diane) Green, Victoria BC; daughters, Nancy Strong, Glace Bay, Susan (Randy) Lavigne, Victoria BC; four grandchildren, Terry Green, Aiden Buckland, Sara (Brayden) MacDonald and Ross Lavigne; several nieces and nephews, special niece, Karen Vickers and nephews, Bert MacLean and Evans Brown, as well as close friends, Helen Grant and Mary MacIntyre.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Bill Green, son-in-law, Otto Strong and eight of her siblings.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 1-2 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Donations in Charlotte’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Cancer Centre.
The family would like to thank Dr. James MacLean and the nursing staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney for all their care and support given to Charlotte.
