Obituary of Mary Agnes Neaves

Mary (Marie) Agnes (Saxton) Neaves, Age 101 of Halifax, passed away at Northwood Centre on Wednesday, November 13th, 2019. 

 

Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary (Doyle) Saxton.

 

She is survived by her son, Thomas J. (Judith) Ross; daughter Lois A. Flemming; brother E. Bernard Saxton; four grandchildren, Andrew, Jennifer, Alison, and Patrick; nine great grandchildren, Carye, Meghan, Taylor, Emily, Jonathan, Lauren, Abbey, Cooper, and Grace; and five great great grandchildren, Aidan, Emma, Ethan, Alyssa, and Catherine. 

 

Marie was predeceased by her first husband, Reginald H. Ross and second husband, Ivan M.Neaves; brothers Joseph, James, and John; sister Grace; and infant son, David.

 

She worked at Cameron Nursing Home and was the Director of The Jost Mission Daycare for a number of years. She was a Member of many Volunteer Groups including St. John Ambulance, Red Cross, DIAL and Meals on Wheels.  She always put other people’s needs before herself.

 

Cremation has taken place under the care of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax (902-835-4212). 

 

A memorial service will be held in the Penthouse, Northwood Centre, 2514 Northwood Terrace, on Friday, November 22nd, 2019 at 2 pm.

Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.

 

The family would like to thank Tricia Wright, RN, and all the staff of 2nd Floor Northwood Centre for their compassionate care of our Mother during her four years at Northwood. Their dedication and caring was certainly appreciated by Marie and Family.
