Glace Bay

 After a long struggle with COPD, we say goodbye to our mother, grandmother and sister.  Grace passed away at her home on November 3rd, 2019.   Born in Lourdes, N.S. on May 19,1941 she was the daughter of the late David and Isabella(MacLeod)Beaton. She moved with her family at a young age to Glace Bay in 1953. Grace attended St. Anne’s School and graduated from St. Michael’s High School.  After graduating she worked as a secretary at the Naval Base in Point Edward, Cape Breton. Following her marriage and birth of her children Grace became a full time Mom.  Strong in her Catholic faith she joined the CWL of Saint John's Church, Glace Bay.  Grace enjoyed music and spent many hours listening to tunes on the radio especially as she declined in health. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Lynn(Dan),Bradley(Lisa) and by her devoted caregiver, son Paul(Amanda).  Also surviving is her pride and joy, her grandchildren Heather, Joshua, Eric and step-granddaughter Kylie.  Siblings Ann(Leroy),Sandra(Jim),Gordon, Donna(Victor),Ellen(Stewart); sisters -in-law Helen, Ann and Elaine. She was predeceased by her loving husband Peter May,1999, her parents; siblings David,Ian,Philip,Norma,Sheila,Alexander(Infancy),and Miriam(Infancy). 

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wed., November 6, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199). A memorial mass will take place 11:00 a.m.  Thurs., November 7,2019 at St. Anne’s Church, Main St., Glace Bay with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating.
