Marilyn and Family, My condolences to all of you ! I was late hearing of Gar's death and won't be able to attend the funeral this morning. My heart goes out to you losing such a beautiful man! When we worked together years ago Gar was so welcoming to us noisy party people when we descended on your Dartmouth home. His interest in everyone showed his rich but steady "joie de vivre" . Now his joy is full. may he rest in the peace of his Lord.!

Sincere sympathy to the family on your most recent loss of Mike. He was such a great person in every way, and know
that he will not be forgotten by anyone who knew him. He and I had many conversations together during our time
at the Sportsplex and especially when we were bowling in the Golden Age Bowling League. May he RIP.

Some wonderful memories of Gar. From running together in the early 70s to taking in University hockey games many years later.
I loved his stories; told in his own inimitable way. He had a way with words!
He may be gone but his positive footprint on his family, the many athletes he coached, and all those he knew and impacted , will live on.
Rest In Peace Gar.

Gar was a friend of our family. A long time ago he was a councillor at Camp Beaver, a gathering of boys and girls from Sacred Heart Church and beyond. They were days filled with sports, mischief and friendships. I’m an old guy now but I still remember this man, he must have been all of 22 years of age then, who always showed himself to be a humble, kind and supportive individual. He could carry a tune, tell a great story and make you feel good about yourself after every interaction. Over the coming decades, our paths have not crossed very often, but when they have, I always came away saying, “You know what? I really look up to this guy.” Today and in future I will always look up to you, Gar.
To Marilyn, Matthew, Paul, Dyan and family, please accept our deepest sympathy.

Costas and I were saddened to learn Mike is no longer among us. His was a compassionate and feisty spirit we so admired. As neighbours, we feel privileged to have known him . I think he was an inspiration to many as he walked the streets of Halifax and Dartmouth refusing to give in to Parkinson's. We enjoyed our chats with Mike and Marilyn and send sincerest condolences to your grownup boys and beautiful two grandchildren. I hope you find comfort in each other and your memories of happy times together. We will visit after our return home from Montreal. Respectfully, Jennifer Henderson

Mr.Aucoin (Gar) was a dad to all us kids growing up around the neighbourhood and always welcomed all of us into the family home. As we all grow apart and go different ways as years went on. Any time I saw him he always made time to stop and ask how things were going and genuinely meant it.
He wanted the best out of life for everyone.
One of the finest men I will ever know!
Definitely lost 1 of the good guys.
My condolences go out to all his family, and to my old buddy Matt sorry for your loss.
We definitely lost 1 of the good guys!

Marilyn and Family, I was so saddened to hear of Gar's passing. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences. I will always remember the many stories you and Bertilla shared that so aptly demonstrated Gar's master wit! He is physically gone from sight but his indomitable spirit endures in the hearts and minds of those who loved him. May sweet memories of him bring you comfort in the days ahead. Donna Pettipas
