It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, Bill Sudworth, age 85, on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Taigh Na Mara, Glace Bay.
Born in Glace Bay, proudly a “Hub-Boy”, he was the son of the late Ruth Sudworth and Sid Taylor and a loving husband to Frances.
Bill was employed with Devco for many years, having worked in N. 20 and No. 26 collieries. Bill was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict proudly serving as a Peace Keeper at 17 years of age.
Bill went on to marry the love of his life, Frances. They spent 64 years together, raising their children and later becoming proud grandparents. In his early years, Bill was a skilled boxer, and an avid sportsman. He also had a great love of cooking, and was famous for his rice.
Bill will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Frances (Ford); children, Billy (Helen), Gee (Laura Lea), Helen Ruth, Donald (Karen) and Todd (Cheryl). Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jennifer, Erica, Billy, Erin, Elysia, Lesley, Gerald, April, Glenn, and Sara; his ten great grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. His smile would light up a room when he was with any of his babies, and his four legged best friend, Rambo.
Bill was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Alice “Sissy”; brothers, Bruce, Sid and Robbie.
