Shaun Edward Saccary
Glace Bay
With broken hearts, we, the family of Shaun Edward Saccary, age 48, regret to announce his passing on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, surrounded by family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
Born November 1970, he was the son of Michael and Catherine “Tossie” Saccary of Dominion. Shaun was active in the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, Squadron 623 in Dominion from the age of 12 until 18, when he joined the Military Reserves, Service Battalion, Victoria Park, Sydney. After graduating Cape Breton Regional Vocational School with a diploma in Carpentry, Shaun returned to NSCC to earn a diploma in Culinary Arts. His employment history included Robin’s, Tim Horton’s and Stream Global Services in Glace Bay.
As a younger man, Shaun was an avid pool and dart player, but more recently enjoyed outings for tea with his good friends, Charlie and Pyke, music of all types, watching movies and ‘chilling with his girl’.
Though diabetes robbed him of his mobility, his sense of humour and sarcastic wit were his until the very end, and his love for his family was everything for him.
Shaun was an easy going, big hearted guy that was liked by all who met him, and loved by all who knew him. Shaun is survived by his parents, Michael and Catherine Saccary; wife, Jacqueline (Marshall), daughters, Rebecca (Sean) Marshall, Emma Fisher and Kimberly, daughter by choice, Amy (Tyler King); grandchildren, Emily and NIkale; sisters, Michelle (Rob Strong) and Nicole (David Corbett); nephew, Lucas; niece, Brittany, many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by grandparents, John “Jake” and Mary “Dit” Saccary and Francis and Harriett MacNeil.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 24,2019 from 5-8 p.m. and funeral service will take place Friday, October 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding, all taking place at T.J. Tracey’s Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199) Interment to follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery with a reception to follow at Tracey’s Funeral Home reception area.
