Donkin

Hugh Benjamin Matheson passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 21, 2019 at the Glace Bay Hospital.

Born in Donkin on April 24, 1932, he was the son of the late William and Georgina (Wadden) Matheson.

Hugh worked in several mines in Cape Breton as an electrical supervisor. 

Hugh is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ruth (Budden) Matheson; daughters, Darlene (Calvin) Blunden and Wilma (Glenn) Ferguson, both of Donkin; grandsons, Travis (Crissy) Blunden, Glace Bay and Jonathan (Jessica) Blunden, Dartmouth; granddaughter, Jordan Ferguson, Donkin; great grandson Rory Blunden, Glace Bay; brother Billy Matheson,Donkin as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Colin Matheson.

Cremation had taken place. In keeping with Hugh's wishes there will be no services, a private burial will take place at a later date.  A special thank you to Dr. Ley ( Ann and Lynn), Dr. MacVicar, E.R. Staff, 3rd floor staff at the Glace Bay Hospital, V.O.N. Elaine Sharpe and Doris Butts.
