Obituary of Linda O'Connell

Linda O’Connell 

Gardiner Mines  

February 19th 1959 - September 19th 2019

It is with saddened hearts that we, the family announce the passing of a wonderful soul Linda O’Connell. Linda was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her family and her extended family dearly. She was always there to lend a helping hand, and always put everyone else ahead of herself.  

Linda was the daughter of the late  John Thomas ‘Bunny’ Gouthro, and Theresa (MacNeil)Gouthro . Linda was predeceased by her sister Effie(Gouthro) Binder.

Linda was employed in her early years at Atlantic Superstore in Glace Bay, most recently employed at Island Distributors, and the Canadian Dollar Store in Sydney.

Left to mourn her is her loving partner Bernie MacEachern; son Daniel and wife Megan O’Connell; her sister Elaine(Neil MacCuish); stepson Shawn MacEachern (Rachel); step daughter Krista MacEachern (Troy);  as well as her grandchildren who gave her much joy Brenda, Austin and Colton. She will also be missed by her special friends Donna Boutilier and Tammy Slade. Linda leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews all who had a very special place in her heart.

Special thank you to the staff of the Cancer Center and Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Cape Breton Cancer Center or a charity of your choice.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Gardiner Mines Community Hall, 6429 Seaside Drive, Gardiner Mines, NS from 6 -10 p.m. All are Welcome.
