When I think of my friend Kelly, the word “grace” comes to mind, this gentle spirit moved through life with a simple elegance that I admired so much. I had the privilege of being her “boss” for a short while at Prescott Group but more importantly, I had the honor of being her friend. Each day she greeted me with that sweet smile, one that was not only visible on her face but in her eyes. She thought I was beautiful and told me so, just about every single day!
I first met Kelly many years ago, she had worked with us at Atlantic Bag Mfg before moving on to bigger and better things. It was with pride that I watched her many accomplishments and grow as a person, always enjoying her visits when she found the time to drop by the Centre. Her incredible work ethic, her empathy for others, her sense of humor and sense of style are just a few of the things that I loved about her…and yes, I loved her. How could you not?
I retired in December of 2018 but I was fortunate to have Kelly rejoin us at Atlantic Bag prior to my retirement. Kelly’s health was declining at that time, there were days I know she wasn’t feeling the best but damn it, there was work to be done and hats to be folded. She showed up, she did her work and she did it well. On those days when she wasn’t feeling her best, I would hold her in my arms and the closeness would somehow comfort her. She would look up at me with those beautiful eyes and smile that smile, letting me know she was okay. On a couple of occasions, the look in her eyes sometimes brought tears to mine, knowing that I could comfort someone in this manner was overwhelming. If I was unable to make her feel better in that moment, all I needed to do was set up the Ipad and tune into Bryan Adams singing Summer of ‘69…..that will always be our song.
To the family of this beautiful woman, thank you so much for sharing her with us. She is one of life’s treasures and I will love her always. rip Kelly ♥

Kelly was like no other. She was the sweetest, caring, hugging, thoughtful person. I have learned so much from her and I’m positive she’s made me a better person. I hope she is grooving to Madonna, with some cozy slippers on, having a soda - no ice - and chilling with those that have passed before her. Love and hugs to you all. I will be thinking of you Aunt Susan, Uncle David, Julie, Scott, Connor, Mackenzie, Ryan, Liam, Troy, Kim, Carter on Saturday and during this difficult time. Wishing I was able to be there to celebrate the wonderful person she was and her influence on us all. xxx Tara, Trevor, Diana and Kate

I was extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Kelly at KBRS. Her positive attitude was contagious and I can still hear her fantastic laugh. I will cherish the memories I have of hearing her movie reviews, what activities she got up to with her nieces and nephews, and what Shania Twain songs were the best (we were both huge fans). Kel always had a smile on her face and it was impossible to be in a bad mood when you were in her presence. I was lucky to have her as my dancing partner at the Holiday parties each year - I couldn't keep up to her but I sure tried. My sincere condolences, Kelly's entire family is in my thoughts and heart.

My sincerest condolences to the family. Kelly and I worked together at KBRS from 2012-2015, and she was someone who brought a smile to my face every single day. Whether it was chats about boys and Carrie Underwood or just a daily reassurance that I was a hard worker, Kelly’s endless positivity was contagious. I will always remember her as the life of the party- no one was a bigger hit on the dance floor! She was full of joy and love, and we were all lucky to work alongside her.
Rest In Peace, Kelly.

Kelly was a thoughtful, caring person and she will always hold a special place in my heart. We worked together for seven years at Knightsbridge Robertson Surrette and during that time we enjoyed many lunches together and conversations around the treat cart on Wednesdays.
My thoughts are with Kelly's family and friends during this difficult time.

Sue and David,
My heartfelt condolences on the passing of Kelly. She was a wonderful individual who holds a very special place in my heart. Angela, Allison and Caroline are all heartbroken by the news. Kelly brought such joy to our family and to the firm. I have fond memories of Kelly circulating throughout the office with the Cookie Cart on Wednesday’s, dancing her feet off at parties, and always making sure everyone felt welcome. She was an integral part of our firm and I will miss her and her hugs. As a shout-out to Kelly and as she always reminded me I will try to ‘Keep up the good work’! So sorry for your loss. Warm personal regards. Mark

I remember Kelly very well from Mrs. Williams' and Mrs. Ascah's Special Education classes at Chebucto Heights during the 1980s.
I also remember her well from my days as a Swimmer with the Halifax Whalers Special Olympics Swim Team.
She will be remembered for her bubbly and likeable personality among her friends, former classmates, and former teammates.
On behalf of the Special Olympics Halifax family, I pass my condolences to the Slaunwhite Family as they go through this sad time.
Kelly will be truly missed.

Our family is fortunate for many reasons, and knowing and learning from Kelly is at the top of that list. Kel, you lit up every room you entered and brought joy and love to every occasion. I will forever cherish the many Sunday afternoons we spent together when I was a kid. Even if you were making me listen to the Bodyguard soundtrack and Celine Dion for hours on end, everything was infinitely more fun with you. We are all so lucky to have been loved by you. I love you Kel and I’ll miss you always.

Sometimes people come into our lives to teach us more about ourselves. Even if we wish they had stayed longer the lessons they leave behind never fade. I met Kelly Slaunwhite very early in my career. She came to a WCNS conference in the early 90’s with her mom Susan Slaunwhite. I didn’t know Sue that well at that time and didn’t know her first language was sarcasm. I was a bit afraid of her. I was even more unsure of her with how she treated Kelly. By that I mean with the same sarcasm and wit she used on us all. Kelly was not spared with Sues sharp wit and wicked humour. It was so refreshing to me, as early in my career, the ‘eternal child’ was still considered the model to go by. As I got to know Kelly more I would hear about her work, her social life and her many cruises and trips with family. There was nothing that held her back. Kelly was blessed with a family who gave her all the opportunities that she earned and deserved. Kelly always amazed me with her independence, hard work and dedication. Toward the end of her life she still had comfort from working and being busy. Kelly was an independent hard working woman who put others ahead of herself. The second last time I saw her she told me her mother was a princess and her father was a prince. Very true words although I twisted it around to make fun of Sue as I love to do. Thank you Sue and David for showing how far your beautiful daughter could fly. You are the best role models I know! I’ll miss you Kell but I’ll never forget the lessons you taught me.

David, Susan, Troy and Julie, I am so sorry that we will not be making new memories with our fabulous Kell, but she left us with so many that we will cherish for the rest of our days. As it is with our large family, the gatherings have been special times made all the more sweet with the awesome humanity that Kelly shared with us. Her fantastic smile and genuine interest in the lives of her family, even us distant cousins, always made me feel loved and happy to be Included as family. I feel so fortunate to have been able to see and kiss my cousin in her final days. Thank you Susan and David for sharing those moments and being so open about how you are coping with this difficult time. I am grateful that your burden was somewhat eased knowing that Kelly was spending her final days in peace and dignity at the Halifax Hospice. I pray that your sorrow will not live large for you since I can be certain that Kelly is among the angels wishing us all to make the most of our lives in the joy-filled way she lived hers. Love Wade and Family.

Kelly was the bestest cousin ever! We shared many laughs and many dances at various events including last year at the Carroll family reunion. I loved her infectious smile and positive attitude. Sixteen years ago, her speech at our wedding pretty much 'stole the show' as she loved to pick on me and make people laugh. Sincere condolences to Aunt Susan, Uncle David, Julie (and Scott) and Troy on your loss. Love, Blair, Kim, Belle, Ava and Lyla
