Leo Charles LeBlanc

Reserve Mines

We ,the family, regret to announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and  uncle, Leo LeBlanc on  Aug 31,2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born on November 14,1933 in Glace Bay, he leaves to mourn his loving wife of 65 years, Doris (MacNeil)LeBlanc; daughters, Linda(Bill) Pratt, Valerie, Janet Steele; sons David, Ronnie, Gary(Patricia) and Kevin(Arlene). He leaves behind grandchildren Cheryl, Cara, Melissa, Tyler, Nicole and Robin and 8 great grandchildren, all who knew him as “Grandfather”. He also leaves brother Donald, Boston; sister, Noreen Thornhill,ON along with several  nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Dave and Mary(Chiasson) LeBlanc, sisters Ethel, Lorraine and Judy, brother Ernie, son Gary in infancy and son in law Charlie Steele. The family cat Little Boy will certainly miss him. Da was a quiet man who enjoyed being surrounded by his family and also enjoyed sitting in his chair with a nice cold beer or at the kitchen table with a nice cup of tea and sweets. He was a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan. In his early years he worked for National Drugs and later he retired from custodial services at Malcolm Monroe School. Leo enjoyed going in to Sydney to play pool every Friday night with his great friend Gordie until he was not able to do so. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses on 3A and the Palliative Care at the Regional Hospital who took care of Da. We will miss you forever, Da. Until we meet again. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Cremation has taken place.  A memorial mass will be held 11: 00 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines  with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, MacLeod’s Rd. Glace Bay.
