Obituary of Norma Snow
Please share a memory of Norma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Norma’s family is deeply saddened to announce her passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Friday, August 2, 2019. Born in Glace Bay and raised in Port Morien, she was the daughter of the late William and Christine (MacDonald) Snow.
She is survived by son, Darren (Sarah) and grandson, Logan; sisters, Shirley (Harvey, deceased), Vivian (Don); brothers, Jackie (Shaunna), Everett; numerous other relatives; and by good friends Jimmy and Karen.
Norma was a long time member of St. John’s United Church, Port Morien and was affiliated with Warden United, Glace Bay. She was also involved with Branch 55 of the Royal Canadian Legion where she served as President and the Rebekah Lodge. She loved to volunteer - the Legion poppy campaign, Red Cross Society, and Heart & Stroke Foundation among others. Her love of singing could be seen on her face as she sang her heart out in the church choir or as she puttered around the house.
Although she was devoted to her entire family, no one meant more to her than her beloved grandson, Logan. Whether it was taking him to swimming lessons, helping with his paper route or just having him under her roof, she absolutely glowed when he was near.
Cremation has taken place as was her wish. Visitation will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 from 1-3pm with celebration of life at 3pm officiated by Rev. Allison Etter. Reception to follow. The family will then take her to be buried with her parents. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
