Obituary of Cynthia Janell Haley

Please share a memory of Cynthia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Cynthia Janell Haley, lately of Ocean View Continuing Care Centre in Eastern Passage, NS, passed away in her 76 year. Born in Middleton, NS, she was the loving daughter of late Lewis Blaine Haley and the late Mary Elenor (Poole) Haley; sister of Arthur Blaine (Karen) Haley; adored aunt of Sarah; and best friend of Geraldine Martin. She will be missed by her many cousins, former colleagues and dear friends.

Cynthia became a nurse, graduating in 1965 from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. She stayed in Montreal until 1967 then moved to Allison, Ont., returning to Montreal to work briefly until she married Vernon Wesley Biccum. They moved to BamPong, Thailand until his tragic death in 1969.

Cynthia returned to Canada where she worked in various hospitals around Toronto. She remarried
(Kenneth Ross) and moved back to Nova Scotia in 1982. It was here that she developed a profound love of the elderly and worked in several facilities including Oakwood Terrace, Ocean View Manor and Northhills Nursing Home in Granville Ferry. She retired about three times but finally stopped working at the onset of renal failure.

In 1996 Cynthia went back to Ontario to care for her mother until her death. Cynthia then returned to Bridgetown, NS where her dreams of owning a bed and breakfast and a tearoom came true. She loved her time managing Cobblestone Corner and Tea and Craft House (best seafood chowder ever).

It was always Cynthia’s hope that she would do good in helping those who crossed her path in life.
