It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Phonse Walsh, age 84, on Sat, July 20, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late William and Eva (Mombourquette) Walsh.

He was a lifetime member of A.N.A.F. Unit 246 and Sgt Mess and C. B. Antique and Custom Car Club. He sponsored Walsh’s ball team for 11 years, played many instruments and loved music. He was the owner of Walsh’s Auto in MacKay’s corner for over 50 years.

Phonse is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Slade) Walsh of 65 years; sons, Alphonsus (Debbie),  Gerald(Arlene), Brian, Glenn and Shawn (Tracy); daughters, Sis (Bill) Newell, Marilyn (Robbie) Moulaison, Madonna (Terry) MacIntyre, Michele (Dan) Power and Tanya (Steve) Gillis; sister, Helen Long, Ont.’ 25 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by 2 brothers and 6 sisters.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 1-2 pm with a service to follow at 2 p.m. on Wednesday July 24, 2019 at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay (902-849-4199) Reception to follow, .
