It’s with broken hearts we announce the passing of Barbara Louise Yates, age 67 on October 10th, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Glace Bay to Louis and Norma (Moore) Brufatto. She worked at Cape Breton Island Housing Authority most of her life until her retirement last year due to her illness. She enjoyed gardening, cards and most of all her fur babies.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her son, Mark (Jennifer) and daughter Tara at home; grandchildren, Matthew, Jaelynn & Lucas; brothers, Donald (Darlene) Brufatto, Jim (Bev) Brufatto and David Brufatto; sisters, Diane Smith, Pauline (John) Coolen, Trish (Ed) Gerrits and Brenda (Terry) Clements She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Chris MacNeil, Rick McKinnon, Louie (Geri) Yates, Weldie (Joan) Yates and Darrell (Ruth) Yates; sisters-in-law, Linda (Gordon Simms) Bailey, Bev (Rick) Brown and Isabel Yates as well as many nieces and nephews and the girls from two clubs.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis Yates (2012); sisters, Jeanette MacNeil and Irene McKinnon; niece, Tayler McKinnon; in-laws Lewis (Duckie) and Margaret Yates; brothers-in-law, Gerry O’Donnell, Kevin Smith, John Brann and Ronald Bailey; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Brann.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 14th, at 6p.m. to 9 p.m. and the funeral service will be Monday, October 15th at 2 p.m.; both at TJ Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St, Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199)
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Palliative Care, the Cancer Center at CBRH or the SPCA.
