Obituary of Denise Adele Shepherd

Please share a memory of Denise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our Mom, Nana & dear friend Denise (Borden) Shepherd, (nee Simmons) at the age of 72 after a long, courageous battle with lung cancer.

Mom is survived by the lights of her life, her children Kim (Harold) and Steven (Sharlene); grandchildren Madison, Rebecca, Paul, Emily, Ashley, Owen, Kirsten, and Dylan; stepchildren dear to her heart, Heather (Jeff) and Carson (Aimett); sister, Patsy; as well as countless family & friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, our Papa, Bob Shepherd; her first husband Paul Borden; and parents, Harvey & Neila Simmons (Fowler).

Our Mom leaves behind a priceless amount of memories & cherished heirlooms from her endless quilts, knitting & craft projects. She will be missed more than words can ever say.

Special thanks to the staff in the ICU at the Truro Hospital for the compassion & care in our Mom’s final days.

A funeral service will be held at Stewiacke Baptist Church, 112 Main Street East, Stewiacke NS, on Thursday, July 25th at 2:00 pm, with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation may be made in memory of our Mom.

Online condolences can be made by visiting tjtracey.com.

“Fly high with the angels Mom/Nana, until we meet again”

“God saw you getting tired

When a cure was not to be

He wrapped his arms around you.

and whispered “come to me”

You didn’t deserve what you went through

So he gave you a needed rest

God’s garden must be beautiful

He only takes the best”
