Obituary of Joan Rochelle McInnis

Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joan Rochelle McInnis, age 82 of Halifax/Porters Lake, passed away July 11th, 2019, at the Halifax Infirmary.

Born in Halifax, NS, she was the daughter of E.J. Warnell and Edith Ritcey.

Joan worked at Simpsons Credit Union for over 25 years, and then at E.J. McConnell & Associates. She was in excellent health and passed away unexpectedly and taken far too soon. Her daughter Kelly was her world and she, hers. Joan was her best friend, confidant, and biggest supporter. Joan extended these qualities to all she knew. She enjoyed life to it’s fullest and in its simplicity, through the enjoyment of nature, watching the birds (the Blue Jays with bats as well, an avid fan), and the wildlife at the lake.

She and Bob were always on the go “road tripping” with their wonderful friends the Bakers, exploring with their maps, and eating their way across Nova Scotia and their map of church dinners for the season. She was an avid animal lover and she will be greatly missed by Wylie, her cat. My hope is that anyone entering the health profession to take an active role in the importance of antimicrobial stewardship and choose wisely.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Kelly Lynn (Robert Burns); companion Basil LaPierre; very special niece Jackie LaPierre; and brother, Al Warnell and family.

She was predeceased by husband Cyril McInnis, and brother Graham Warnell.

A funeral service in Joan’s memory will be held Thursday, July 18th, at 11 am, at St. Genvieve’s Church, 723 E Chezzetcook Rd., Head of Chezzetcook NS, B0J 1N0 with Father Livio officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please stop to appreciate the beauty of nature and all that surrounds you.
