We, the family of Sarah ‘Sally’Sampson, regret to announce her peaceful passing on Friday June 28th, 2019.  Born in Glace Bay, Sally was the daughter of the late Sarah and Charles Sampson.  Sally was a much loved and dedicated educator, beginning her career in Benacadie. She also taught at St. John’s Elementary and St. Anne’s Elementary, before becoming principal at Sterling School, in Glace Bay.  After the closing of Sterling School, Sally finished her career at Brookside Elementary.   Sally was never one who needed much in material possessions.  Her family was what made her most happy, especially being able to share in the lives of her many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, many of who can relate stories of her giving nature. 

Sally was an active member of the NS Teachers’ Union and the Retired Teachers Association as well as serving on the board of directors of the Coady Credit Union.

Left to mourn her passing are her sisters, Rose Emond, Ruby Deveaux; brothers Earl and Clarence and her many nieces and nephews.  Sally was predeceased by her sisters Mary Micossi, Wilma Broderick, Betty Sampson, and brothers Charles, Gerald, Robert, Stanford and Patrick as well as two brothers in infancy.

The family would like to thank, in a special way, Dr. James MacLean for his care and compassion for Sally, her home care worker Anne Milley, VON  and the medical staff at the Glace Bay and Regional Hospitals. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of choice is requested.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS  (902-849-4199).  A funeral mass will be take place Monday, July 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m at St. Anne’s Parish, Main St., Glace Bay with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding.

Reception to follow.  Burial to take place in St. Anne’s Cemetery.
